My best summer job when I was at Edison was working for the Tulsa County roads department.I worked on the highway paint stripe machine as a traffic cone placement officer.I like my 10th grade school photo best.I was very conscious of dressing for the latest fad in clothing.I was wearing a dark sport shirt with a white t-shirt,blue suede shoes imitation suede with elevator shoe inserts,a St.Christopher medal on a neck chain ,a White Owl cigar band ring on one hand and a Captain Midnight magic decoder ring on the other hand.I had my Cutter snake bite kit in my pants pocket,I had one of those fake tattoos on my hand that said U.S Navy.
One of my friends at Edison,Rick Shelton told me his mother bought home two pairs of Lee jeans she found on sale.Rick refused to wear them and she was forced to return them.He would only wear Levis.
Did any of you know Sally Walker? Several of us remember her kindly from about the 7th or 8th grade then she was mysteriously gone.I dont think she ever went to Edison.Maybe she went to Holland Hall or Monte Casino.
If you ever attended one of our JIMMY REED PARTIES at my house I would like to hear your memories..It was always Johnny Rubin, Myself, Rick Shelton and sometimes Charlie Apperson, likely some others. We had an electric beer sign on and listened to Jimmy Reed blues music for an hour or two. After listening to Jimmy Reed and his harmonica blasting out minor blues songs like "You Dont Have To Go" you were completely devastated, lost the will to live for the rest of the day.
